WEST COAST FAMILY?

So, some of you might be wondering, if my little Italian family is all here on the east coast who am I referring to when I say my "west coast cousins"? I have a whole mess of family in the Seattle area. My father lives there with his wife and three sons. My uncles, Buzz and Phil, also live there with their wives and children, 6 cousins total and some of those cousins have kids of their own. I would name them all but I'm sure I wouldn't get every bodies names right, spelling that is.
ie: The term "wives" does not imply in anyway that my uncles have or are currently practising polygamy in any way shape or form. At least if they have they haven't posted it on their Blog.

The Yohann's, me included, are not very good at keeping in touch so I would catch up on family events by reading their blogs. I enjoyed it so I figured I would try one too. So far it's going as planned...I have no idea what I'm doing, I can't get the comments to post no matter what settings I change and every time I write a new post I lose it before I can publish it and then have to write it again. Other than that it's going great!

See,I was born in 70's so my theory is our generation kind of missed the boat with the whole computer craze. They just started putting computers in schools when we were there so we never really learned how to use them until college and by then we were all too hung over to pay attention in class. The younger kids grew up with them in the classroom and the older kids had to use them in the real world once they were out of school. Or my other theory is my friends and me wuz to lazy to learn us anything and the schools didn't supply us with any computers in the smoking sections for us to use. Wait, smoking sections? In schools? That's a whole other story.

So I suffer from "any thing with a chip in it, that isn't made from a potato, will not work when I use it" curse. Perhaps you have heard of it or read about it in Medical Journal of Clinical Curses and Voodoo Viruses? No? You can pick it up at Border's.

So another rant comes to an end...

MY DOG FIX!

As some of you know I am an animal lover, especially dogs! Ever since my boy Sysco died over a year ago I've been dying for some puppy love. So, I decided to study to be a dog trainer for kicks. I trained with Dory & Toni at American Canine Academy for several weeks and got to play with all different types of dogs and puppies. Now I am in the last part of my training which is volunteer work at a shelter. So, once or twice a week I go over to Bide-A-Wee shelter on the east side and walk dogs after work. We do some basic obedience but mostly I just hug em' and kiss 'em and name them George... They are all such good dogs they just had bad owners. It is sad to see them in their cages but Bide-A-Wee is a no kill shelter so you know there is hope for them all.

MY NEW PLACE

So I finally got my own place! It's taken me 35 years and 11 months but it's all mine. It has been a lot of work but it's getting there. Here are some pictures of it so far. Once my chairs arrive and I find a place for all of my crap I will post some more.

LA MIA FAMIGLIA

Well thanks to my west coast cousins I have decided to get on the blog wagon and see if I have anything interesting to offer to the world. For those of you that know me or my family odds are the answer is "yes".

I come from one of the smallest italian families in the New York area and by small I mean quantity not over all size. The only thing small about us is the amount of left overs we have after dinner. It all started when my great grandparents came to America through Ellis Island from Italy. My Grandparents were raised in Brooklyn and New Jersey and my mother was raised in the Bronx and Westchester. I was raised in River Edge, New Jersey no more than a mile away from my mom's twin sister MJ, my uncle Davey and my cousins Jeannine & Jennifer.

My Grandparents, Nonna & Boppy, lived in Scarsdale, NY in the little red house on the corner. They built 27 Winding Lane a long time ago so they could raise the twins & Thomas there. Boppy retired from the New York police force in the mid 70's as Inspector Detective of homicide NYPD. He worked all over the city and was always getting called in. Poor Nonna always got stood up because someone would get whacked downtown.

So my mother and Aunt grew up in the "burbs" surrounded by fellow gombas with last name like Pappalardo,Tortelanni and other fun pasta shapes. Nonna was always cooking or baking so friends were always hanging out at the little red house.

My house in River Edge was very similar when I was growing up. My friends were always over
but not because my mother was always cooking or baking but because she was always out drinking and partying! Ah, those were the days...

Now, since most of my friends are all married with kids I still party some but it's usually with Karen, Mary Jean & David.

So here is my blog which will be full of amusing adventures of the Russo/Kerr Clan!

Enjoy!
