I'm Cursed!

Well we all knew that but today when I was in Jack's getting my daily Snapple and Diet Coke I think some lady put a curse on me. For those of you who don't know Jack's you are really missing out. We are talking 3 floors of nothing but CRAP! The bottom floor is nothing but 99 cent items everything from pliers to lunch meat. The fact that anyone buys 99 cent lunch meat is a whole different story. I tend to only purchase from the non perishable items when I'm shopping there.

Anyway, I was heading down the beverage/bread isle looking for my Snapple when I was stopped by a small women pulling a suitcase with one hand and holding a pack of 99 cent hot dogs in the other. She had her head draped in fabric almost like she was in mourning. There we stood facing each other just waiting for the other to move but I couldn't, I was in a trance. She was chanting something but I couldn't make it out. What was she saying and why did I care? I finally snapped out of it and moved out of her way.

Now I think my first born will be born with a pig's nose!

NABISCO

When I was about 4 years old we lived in Franklin Lakes and to get there from Mary Jean's we would have to drive past the Nabisco Factory on route 208. We would always get excited as we approached, waiting patiently with all hands on the window cranks, yes I said cranks, we didn't have electric windows back then. Once it was in sight down went the windows and out went our heads as we let the smell of fresh baked Nilla wafers roll over us we'd take deep breaths and smile. Then we would fall out of the car because we also didn't have car seats back then...just kidding, well sort of.

These days I take the train into the city from the Radburn station in Fair Lawn just off of 208. The lot fills up fast so I usually have a long walk to the car after a long day at work. As I file off of the train tired and weary and wanting to get home I'm hit in the face with a familiar scent of Nilla wafers. I smile, slow down and enjoy the free calories.

Emma's 3rd Birthday!

Happy birthday Emma. Her mommy and I were best friends growing up and now I have a new best friend, my girl Emma.

Since Aida's birthday is the day after Emma's I haven't been able to make her a birthday cake. We are celebrating Aida's birthday this saturday instead so I had plenty of time to make Emma's cake this time. I think I made enough to last a couple of birthdays though. Her theme was Spider Man but since dark red and blue buttercream would stain the kids mouths for days I opted for something a little more girlie.

I miss my friend.
I haven't seen her in two years and ten probably before that but I miss her. We were friends growing up, the important years, the ones that count, the ones where every experience is new, where choices you made then mold you into the person you are today, bonds between friends that never waver no matter how much time goes by. These are the people I truly call my friends. The laughs we shared are endless, the stories we tell are legendary the love we shared is forever. Time goes by, months, years, decades but I still miss my friend.
